Newsletter and More

Overview

Friends of Nigeria has a number of ways to communicate with its members.  Click on items in the panel to the left for more information.

Our mainstay is a quarterly newsletter that has been published for over 20 years.  All back issues are available on the website, and an email blast to the membership announces when the latest edition has been published.  The newsletter is available in both hard copy (which is distributed by mail) and electronic form.  Images in the electronic version are in color while the printed version is black and white.  The newsletter includes a number of features, including book reviews, commentary on events in Nigeria, obituaries, and member recollections about service in Nigeria.

Please contact the newsletter editor (Peter Hansen, pjhansen717@gmail.com) with suggestions, comments, ideas, and articles for the newsletter.

An obituary archive is published on the website.  We also publish a directory of the FON membership that is updated at two to three year intervals.

We have an annual meeting in conjunction with the NPCA's annual Peace Corps Connect meeting.  Narratives of past FON meetings are available elsewhere on this page.  Our meeting includes a summary of FON activities and accomplishments for the year, presentations by volunteers on their service in Nigeria, experts on Nigeria discussing current events, politics, or key issues (such as health care) in Nigeria, and an opportunity to renew friendships with other Nigeria RPCVs.

In addition to our website, we have a wiki (www.WikiFON.org) that contains a compendium of facts, stories, pictures, and recollections of our service in Nigeria.  The wiki also contains information on each Nigeria training group.
